This Valentine's Day, I was sad to find out that my Valentine had to
work the late shift. We had already decided we wouldn't spend any money
on each other, but I still wanted to surprise him. So, on my lunch I
dashed down to the Byward Market and stopped into Saslove's Meat Market
and picked a nice Delmonico steak, because what man doesn't love a nice
steak? And then I headed over to La Bottega and bought a still-warm
baguette and some made-in-house torrone biscotti for dessert. To drink? I
grabbed his favourite Erdinger Weissbier and a new beer to try,
Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted Blond, a craft beer from Scotland. Oh, and I also made this adorable little card
for him!
He got home at almost the stroke of midnight to the surprise. The steak was deliciously rare, the beer was frosty, the bread was heaven, the biscotti were sinfully sweet and our hearts were warm. All in all it was an inexpensive, perfectly lovely, grin-inducing midnight
Valentine's Day celebration!
Hope you had a great Valentine's Day too!
